In order to mark our 25th anniversary of supporting families in the Wokingham Borough, a team of Home-Start Hikers will be attempting to complete the Thames Bridges 25km Trek through London from Putney to Tower Bridge on Saturday 11th September.
A mixture of staff, volunteers and supporters have been in training throughout the summer in order to complete the challenge and are hoping to raise £2,500 to help more disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated parents with at least one child under the age of five, who are struggling to cope with the daily challenges of family life.
Parenting is tough at the best of times but our families face additional challenges such as disabilities, illness, low income, mental health issues and isolation, which make parenting even harder – and many of them have little, if any, support.
We would be super grateful if you could sponsor the Home-Start Hikers by going to Thames Bridges Trek | Localgiving
Or to donate £10 you can simply Text 25KMTREK to 70085. Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message
The money raised will help fund the recruitment and training of local volunteers who will then visit families once a week and provide the friendship and the emotional and practical help they need to get through a particularly tough time. With your help, parents will learn new parenting skills and grow in confidence so that they can give their children a better start in life.
Any donation you can make, however small, will be hugely appreciated.
Thank you!
