Home-Visiting Support

Our wonderful team of compassionate volunteers, who are usually parents or grandparents themselves, are trained to provide emotional and practical help to families in their homes. No judgment, just friendly, free, confidential support.

WHAT DOES OUR HELP LOOK LIKE?

We work alongside parents to assess the individual needs of each family. Volunteers are then carefully matched with families and visit them at home for a few hours once a week, building relationships based on trust and friendship. We provide parents with a listening ear, an extra pair of hands and valuable parenting tips. Babies and children benefit from having another caring, responsible adult in their lives, who has their best interests at heart.

HOW DO WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Home-Visiting Support makes a real difference to parents’ and their children’s lives. Through regular contact our volunteers develop caring and supportive relationships appropriate to the individual family’s needs, giving parents the encouragement they need to face their particular challenges. During 3-6 months of support, parents learn new skills, grow in confidence and widen their support networks within their community. We see real improvements in their children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being, better preparing them for nursery and school and helping give them a better start in life.
