Last week Ben Fennell rowed 100km in 24 hours with only two half an hour sleeps to mark his 50th birthday, raising almost £9,000 for Home-Start Wokingham!!
Ben was overwhelmed by the support of friends and family joining him throughout the row via zoom or in person, either rowing, cycling or running with him or just cheering him on. On the final leg there were 10 people with him and 25 people on the zoom including friends in Australia.
It really was an amazing and inspiring achievement with a few tears being shed at the finish!! Ben said “I feel totally overwhelmed and terribly emotional! I just want to thank everyone so much for all the financial support, the physical support and all the messages of support. We’ve raised an incredible amount of money. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of it.”
The money raised will pay to take 30 families out on a summer outing and will enable Home-Start Wokingham to support many more families in the borough through our home-visiting service.
