Our latest Volunteer Training Course was a great success, with five new recruits completing the three week programme in November.  We were thrilled to welcome back Emma Roberts, a former Home-Start Scheme Manager to run the course, together with Leanne, our Scheme Co-ordinator.  The course was held in a room at WADE, Care for the Elderly in Wokingham, which is now our registered address. We are extremely grateful to WADE for letting us use their premises.

The course ran from 9.30 until 2.30 on three consecutive Thursdays with lunch being provided. As always, it was fun and informal with a lot of input from the volunteers, all bringing an amazing array of different talents and experiences in the world of parenting.

Some of our new recruits have already been paired with families needing support and with referrals coming in thick and fast, we expect to be running another course in the spring. So if you have a few hours a week to give and want to help a local family struggling to cope, please email leanne@home-startwd.org.uk – we would love to have you on board.

Massive thanks to our new recruits for giving us their precious time, their compassion and their kindness to help give more children a better start in life. And a big thank you to Berkshire Community Foundation, Wokingham United Charities and Wokingham Borough Council, for funding the training course.
